What to consider for Frameless Glass Pool Fencing

While it may seem like a simple process to install a new glass pool fence, we have to consider a number of factors, including:
- Foundations currently in place.
- Will installation be on a strong, solid foundation – we recommend concrete
- How far away the pool fence will be from the pool – must be a minimum distance of 1250mm for earthing.

Best foundations for installation

When it comes to foundations we highly recommend that concrete is used as the foundation for the pool fence for a number of reasons:

Concrete slab is the best for frameless glass fencing. Spigots must be on concrete, so the slab should run the entire length of the fence.
We highly recommend concrete foundations over any other option. The reason being that timber moves and glass panels can shift. Timber heats up and expands. The constant movement means the glass will change angles. Resulting in the latch of a gate working at midday but being out of alignment once the timber cools down at night.
If you already have a timber deck in place, it’s best to put concrete around the edge for us to install a glass fence on.
When it comes to grass, we recommend either an aluminium fence or put in concrete 300mm wide x 300mm deep for each post. Or alternatively do a full concrete strip/slab with reinforcement so that if it moves, it moves together. If aluminium fence is built over grass, it is actually more flexible than the glass fencing.
